Creativity and Graphic Design Bootcamps
Are you a tween or teen interested in the field and study of graphic design, creativity and the arts? do you love animals, nature, and the idea of getting to create something with your hands and your brain every day? do you lack access to relevant coursework in your school? Are you a home schooler seeking resources for design, photography and even pottery?
Are you a parent with a curious, bubbling tween or teen bursting with love for animals, a passion for creativity, and an adoration for nature? Are you ready to send them off to sleep-away camp for an enriching, engaging, and small group experience?
This summer camp session will provide you valuable experience in discovering your creative self with an emphasis on basic graphic design concepts taught by a former girl scout leader and a tenured graphic design professor turned DESIGN COACH. In a fun and dynamic workshop, you will explore and experiment from drawing to tinkering to telling stories to collage.
Graphic design is not sprinkling magic fairy dust over a computer which is purely a tool, but is about creative problem-solving that is an individual's method of synthesizing research and ideas. To strengthen that visual and thinking muscle, participants will engage in discovery methods and make/create by hand in traditional craft techniques like collage and explore typography with pencils or objects found in nature. Computer not required as most of what we'll do is by hand. No experience needed just a curiosity to learn, a willingness to try, and a passion for nature and animals is a plus.
Because we are all bombarded with images and consumer products, there may be an age appropriate discussion of the graphic design industry, how to create a portfolio for applying to Colleges or Universities, selecting the best school for you are also or whether that's even the best path to take.
Accepting ages 11 and up.
