Join Coach Val for a week (or two) of creativity camp.


Whether it's your first time away from home or just a new location to explore, you will have a safe and joyful experience
in a glamping setting at Camp Wonder Wander.


Feed your love of creativity.

Engage your senses and problem-solving skills.

This art camp focuses on the principles
and elements of graphic design using
hand craft and fine art aesthetics in
creative methods.


Jumpstart your creative passion
for design and creativity
in 2020!

Choose one week agenda or
stay for two weeks and create even more work!


You will learn the basics of graphic design.
You will learn how to explore and experiment.
You will go outside and use nature as inspiration.

You will try hand craft skills like drawing and collage.

Optional down time activities: board games, pottery, reading, writing

 

OUTCOMES:

a piece of pottery glazed

a flash card set game with your own box
at least one book (can be abstract) that you design and bind

The best learning happens in active experiential environments that
are safe and conducive to the individual.


Maximum of 12 campers.

ITINERARY

DAY 1:

ARRIVAL 5PM

> Icebreaker creative drawing and introductions
>what's your super power? what's your favorite ________<

> Choosing beds and get settled before dinner
> Evening dinner, campfire and plans for the week
discuss Kaper chart and sign up
> tentative - make sit-upon cushions for the week

 

DAY 2:
> Breakfast

> Finding your creative MONSTER
using sketch and other techniques to find images like looking at clouds
2 hours of creative play and experimenting
> break and clean up

> make a picnic lunch
> explore the camp, meet the animals, walk to the yurt and river for lunch
> collect natural objects for use later
> afternoon pottery introduction and workshop,
hand building and wheel throwing demo
> snack
> cooking lesson - breakfast for dinner
> evening movie or campfire with stories

DAY 3:

> Breakfast
> Get Messy and Crafty
This creative workshop is interactive and will encourage creative flow.
Expect the unexpected as various restraints or time challenges are given.

> Drawing the animals
Now that you have had an introduction to the camp, we'll spend time
at various stations so you can draw what you
might see from chickens to donkeys to peacocks to bamboo or trees or the river.

DAY 4:

> Pottery part 2.
Make sure it's dry. finishing touches and firing greenware.

practice using the sun to create image on paper with found objects

> Dinner and cooking lesson 2 (dessert)

DAY 5:

> Breakfast

> More MONSTERS

make selection process and learn basics of digitizing

and print to make a set of cards

> Making patterns

using your gathered material and sketching
create a pattern - digital tools will be shared
> Lunch provided

> Mapping - My MAP book
throughout the day you will draw and complete
multiple elements to include in your book
> Group Dinner
> Evening glazing to complete your pottery

DAY 6:
> Breakfast

> morning load pottery
> Making books

using materials created from past several days

will construct and assemble at least 2 small books
> Picnic Lunch at the Yurt

> Afternoon PRINTING, CUT and ASSEMBLE
Making an Origami Box and Binding Books
> Group Dinner

> Art/Nature movie and/or campfire
 

DAY 7:

>Breakfast

> Collage

explore design elements of color, texture, shape, and value with collage

> Lunch

> Accordian Book

Transform your images and writing into an artist book

> Pick up Finished pottery
>Break to hang out and pack
>Final Group Dinner

Share best project and Stories around the campfire
 

DAY 8:

DEPARTURE

pick up between 10 and 11am

If you stay for a second week, you will have a chance to get more advanced
and work on independent projects based on our work together.
I will coach you and you can fix or make more art and design.

*Itinerary subject to change based on any logistical issues including weather.
Kaper participation including feeding animals, collecting eggs, etc will be integrated into the daily routine.
